The setup...

Tara is the most excited about this plan. She and I just finished reading her latest fairy book, Lily and the Pesky Plant. It is all about a garden fairy and the mystery seed she plants and whether it will be a good plant or a bad one. She plans on being just like Lily and being the best garden-talent-fairy...oops-I-mean-child ever! She is growing cherry tomatoes which was her choice.

Eric picked a yellow bell pepper plant. This really isn't a surprise to anyone since he LOVES peppers. He is the only kid I know of that gets bribed at the grocery store with red, yellow, and orange peppers for being good. He is definitely related to Papa Bob!

Ian, can you see him in there? The neighbor girl and all his siblings decided they needed to help Ian with the planting since he is so small! I think they just wanted to dig in more dirt. Anyway, Ian is growing a green bell pepper because it is his favorite color!

I'm attempting to grow a yellow bell pepper plant as well. Hopefully Eric's lasts longer than mine does! Its already on its last leg and I just bought it a few weeks ago. I don't know if its the wind, birds, overwatering, underwatering, or just fate that the problem...I'm so bad at this stuff. Any tips?
Make sure that you poke some holes in the bottoms of those buckets! I learned the hard way that most plants do not like to sit in soil that isn't well drained. All it takes is one or two times of overwatering and within a few days you plants will be dead. I hope Eric will share a pepper or two! I'll trade him some candy bars...
That sounds like SO much fun. I hope the plants do well.
I can't wait to play in the dirt. I started my raspberries and 3 days later it snowed again. It's crazy here, I tell you.
I'm regretting all my past complaints! I'm missing the warmth of Texas.
What a great idea. We might copy.
Fun idea, Lar! Molly gets bribed at the grocery store with her choice of yogurt or a bagel....much cheaper than a red or yellow bell pepper! But not quite as tasty, in my opinion!
Caleb has a garden out back that M helps with but this would be my kind of gardening!
