Sleeping Beauty

The Lilac Fairy (stock photo)

I was fortunate enough to take my girls to the Russian National Ballet's performance of Sleeping Beauty. It was by far my favorite ballet. I think because we are so familiar with the story and the music, thank you Walt Disney! It was beautiful.

More importantly, I loved that it gave me an opportunity to hold little ones on my lap and explain the story they were watching on stage. I loved their excitement. Kyra enjoyed watching the fairies dance, but really, really wanted them to have wings so they could fly too. Amy couldn't contain her enthusiasm and just had to get out of her seat and try a few twirls, plies, and pirouettes. She kept saying, "I have to practice that at home." But the most enjoyable part was watching how mature Tara has become. She looked like a young lady. She was kind to her sisters and held Kyra for me when Amy needed more attention. It was a wonderful Mother/Daughter experience.

Some of my favorite memories are when my mom used to take me and my sisters out for a movie and ice cream. I love reading about all of the fun things you do with your kids. Keep up the good work.
