pants on backward

When I picked up Ian from school, I had a short visit with the teacher about some of his behavior problems during the day. At home I tried to figure out what was going on with Ian to result in a rough day. After brainstorming together, we finally found it.

If you are so sleepy that you don't notice that you put your pants on backward and tired enough that you wore them that way all day long, then you're in no position to handle the intensity of kindergarten. I'd be cranky too if my pants were on backward.

Our solution was an early bedtime and the next day he was back to his normal self.

Yeah, as a parent I've been tired enough to do that...and I consider all crankiness associated with days like that completely acceptable! Glad he was back to normal by the next day, I'm still waiting to get there! :)

This isn't helping to ease my "freak-out" level about having kindergarten signup next week...

That is great. Another thing though, I would be awful cranky if my pants were on backwards.

That's Ethan half the time. "Ethan, you've got a Nike swoosh on your bum. Everyone will know your pants are on backwards." "I don't care." "Even if your pockets are back there too?" Shrug.

Yup. That happens around here too.
