We planned a trip to Ruidoso, NM for the week before Spring Break to avoid the crowds. I was so excited, I was practically giddy that is until it was time to actually go.
Here's how the trip started. I spent the day before we were supposed to leave in the doctor's office waiting room to find out that Amy's random vomit and refusal to eat was actually strep without a sore throat or fever. Easily solved with a shot in the rump, so no problem. I was beyond frustrated when in the middle of the night Kyra threw up and Ian woke up with a fever and headache. Instead of leaving town, we went back to the doctor's office and got more medicine for more cases of strep throat. We decided to go anyway because the kids could be sick in their beds or sick in their car seats. Plus it helps that medicine is amazing.
We really enjoyed our cabin with it's air hockey table. Every time I turned around, the kids were playing another game on that thing.
We hiked around outside and played in a creek.
And gathered sticks. I'm old enough now to have forgotten how cool a stick is, but apparently they are very, very cool and need to be collected in large numbers and even larger sizes if possible.
Oh, and rocks are really cool too, but since my Dad's a rock fanatic, I wasn't surprised here.
We built a fire and had smores.
Family time away from home is so much fun.

I am sorry your kiddos were sick but I am glad you guys got to go. It looks like you had a blast! I can't wait for the time when Matt and I can do things like this. It is so nice to get away for awhile.
