Sunday morning I was laying in bed listening to my kids interact which can be so entertaining. Ian was hungry and was saying all the things he wanted to eat, but was informed by Eric that he had to ask Mom first. Ian came into my room and whispered in my ear, "Can I have some ice cream for breakfast?" No. "Can I have some cookies for breakfast?" No. "Can I have some key lime pie yogurt for breakfast?" Yes. "Thanks, Mommy," whispers Ian.
Just a quick aside. That kid is no dummy. If he had asked for yogurt first, I probably would have said no. We only had 2 left which could easily get ugly with four kids, but given the alternative choices this sounded incredibly healthy and worth the possible meltdowns of other siblings! It is amazing when you realize that your 3 year old already knows how to manipulate you and the situation into getting what he wants.
Ok, back to the story...
Ian went tearing off into the kitchen to get his yogurt. I'm still just listening to the boys interact. "I get to have key lime pie yogurt," sings Ian to the tune of na-na-na-na. "Who said?" demands Eric. "Mom," taunts Ian. "Which Mom?" Eric asks for clarification. "The REAL Mom," Ian says.
My kids are full blown into the imagination stage. They play house, school, shark-tamer, and anything else that comes to mind. Tara has become Mom and I am the Real Mom...thank you very much! I think I have earned that title and I will wear it proudly. Hi, I'm THE REAL MOM!

You ARE the real deal, Laura! And your kids have the best imagination...love it! And sweet, sweet Ian...I can only imagine the stories that will come when he's a teenager!
It sounds like Ian is going to be a great negotiator. Your kids always amaze me at how smart they are. You must be doing something right!

Baby names: Lila is one of my fav. girl names. Boys I am more traditional. Jacob will be our next boy(if there is a next)
LOVE the name Lila! If no one uses it soon then I just might. If I can ever get pregnant again...
Don't claim Lila yet because it is one of 12 names that actually made my list.
