New Addition Information

Well, I went to the doctor today and it is official, I am definitely pregnant...again. I am due in mid-September. Since the doctors now believe me that I have really fast labors, I will be induced about 2 weeks early. I'm pushing for end of August and they want the first week of September. We can have that discussion as it gets closer to time.

Unfortunately there are a few issues that I have to be monitored with on this pregnancy. Since Amy had 5ths disease during the first trimester of my pregnancy, I had to be tested for the parvovirus. After the blood test, they found I had an active infection in the past 2 weeks. I will now have monthly sonograms for 3 months to make sure the baby doesn't develop hydrops. Basically the parvovirus has a 33% chance of crossing the placenta and infecting the baby. This causes the baby to be unable to process its own red blood cells. The unprocessed cells then create fluid around the skull, lungs, and heart. Most babies figure out how the reabsorb all the fluid, but those that don't will die in utero or require intrauterine blood transfusions...hence the monitoring.

They also found a blood clot in my uterus which is slightly under the placenta. This has to be monitored as well. It can cause the placenta not to grow as large as it should. The baby would then not get as much nutrients as it should and might have to be delivered prematurely.

Anyway, that is the news with me and the baby.

I am so excited for you guys! Maybe we will be having another baby together. Time will tell. Our kids all need playmates, right?

Congratulations!!

I'll be thinking of you through all the monitoring (been there, done that). Take good care of yourself.

And, sorry to hear about the pink eye. It's no fun *feeling* sick, *and* looking scary. ;)
