Cooking club is still a favorite around here. I have gradually turned over more and more control to Tara and her friends. They have always done the measuring and mixing, but now they do the recipe reading and choose what to make.
Recently we had the chance to have Nana at cooking club and the girls wanted to make pretzels. That was a new one for me! It is a little intimidating to make sure a bunch of little girls can make a recipe correctly when I've never made them before either. Thank goodness for recipes. I had no idea you boiled pretzels in baking soda and water before you baked them. With the help of google we figured out why we needed to boil the pretzel dough. It was really fun to learn how to make a new recipe.

This was the easiest cooking club ever. Tara only wanted Nana to help her so I was able to watch and take pictures. It would be nice to have Nana around more often. I'm glad they got to share this time together.

And Nana really enjoyed cooking with Tara and her friends!
How fun!!!
Your blog inspired me to do a cooking club for my daughter. We did it during the last month of school last year. I am really impressed that you are still doing it! We made pretzels once and the girls love it. But we did NOT boil them before baking. My recipe didn't even recommend it. It probably makes them more like a pretzel. Ours were more like twisty breadsticks.
