Drag Car Races

We are always looking for something new and exciting to do together as a family. When Jared and I told the kids we were taking them to a drag race, they had no idea what we were talking about or what to expect. Kyra was convinced that we were actually on our way to a Dragon Race. Since this was in the height of our How to Train Your Dragon viewing, it made perfect sense to her that we would indeed be spectators to a dragon race.

Imagine our surprise when we saw this car pull up to race.
It was the car of choice for the rest of the night.

We almost drove into the race lane in an attempt to find a place to park. Whoops. Can you imagine the mini van with all 7 passengers trying to race these cars?

It was an exciting night for sure, especially for the boys! They loved the noise, the speed, and the awesome cars. Plus running up and down the almost empty stadium seats was a pretty awesome.

Ian could barely contain himself.

The girls weren't quite as impressed. Keeks managed to sleep through the roar of the motors. Tara was trying to decide whether she should boycott the "boy activity" or just admit that it was more fun than she expected, so she settled for sulking.

We enjoyed picking a favorite car and guessing who would win. The night looked like this:

We saw a car almost crash, and that was a little scary. We shouted over the noise, discovered how pointless it was to get the kids to wear ear plugs, and of course we almost froze our tushies off, but it was well worth it. Plus hot chocolate at home was fun too.

Love that Tara settled for sulking. I bet one day she'll tell you who cool it really was. :)
