Ian thought for a minute and then began to cry. "Mom I don't want you to be lonely." Oh sweet boy! I explained I would be playing with the baby girls, but I would miss his stories and spunk. He told me it would be ok as long as I didn't cry.
Tara was nervous and worried.
Emotions we've become familiar with and are learning to focus effectively.
She still wanted me to walk her to her desk,
give her a squeeze and remind her that it would be fine.

Eric was eager.
He happily gave me a hug and a kiss and briskly walked off to class.
(On my way out, I sneaked to the door of his room to snap a picture, but didn't need me.)
He was confident.

Ian was excited and full of undirected energy.
He got in trouble at school he told me, but couldn't remember why.

Interesting how each child's approach to the first day of school is so like their approach to life in general.

Oh boy I hope Libby gets out of this freak out if mom walks away for a second thing before she starts school since she's been in it now for 2.5 years. :)
What a great post! Good luck this school year, Shannon kids! How exciting to only have 2 kids at home during the day! I bet you'll enjoy doing girly stuff with them! Did you cry later about taking Ian to Kindergarten? I don't let myself cry in front of the kids at school, because I don't want them to worry.
Tell Tara I think she looks so pretty in yellow. And tell the boys I think they're pretty cool. :)
I was strong until I had to drop of Ellie and then I bawled like a baby. I haven't cried at school drop off for a while now. Your kids are darling. Ian is so cute that he cried.
You really have a knack for killer taglines.
I love that Ian cant remember why he got in trouble, so funny! and what a sweetheart to cry and worry you would be sad
