My Belly Button Hurts

I guess I shouldn't be surprised by that fact since I just had an umbilical hernia repaired a few days ago. I am though. You would think when the surgeon told me I couldn't lift anything over 10 lbs for a month, I would have also assumed that I would be sore. Funny that I thought I would just pop up and be back to normal as soon as I woke up.

I've made it past the teeth chattering side effect of the anesthesia which was so, so fun. I've never been more cold or miserable.

I am either very confident or crazy to post this picture

I'm still sore. Not, "Wow, they cut open my abs and now it hurts to breath," but more like "Oh, I have an open wound, let's not touch it."

With that improvement, I might have mentioned that my belly button hurts maybe once or twice or sixty times in the past few days. Enough for my parrot, Amy, to walk around the house saying, "mine bel-wee button herts," while doing this:

I'm in love with the hand placed on the side of her stomach.
I have no idea where she learned that.

Thanks for all the well wishes.

I'm doing fine!
( Because my mom is doing everything I normally do and then some while I sit here typing. I might not ever get well! Except Kyra won't let me hug her anymore, she only wants my mom. That stinks. I think I will get better soon so she'll give me some sugar.)

But I'm still sore.

But what's an umbilical hernia?

Laura, I feel your pain, really, I do.
Try having your abs cut open and having children removed 4 times. Also an 11cm tumor and 40 cm of intestine pulled through a 3 1/2 inch incision.
No matter how big or how small the incision is in your abdomen, IT HURTS! I am so sorry. You will appreciate no pain soon!
Love you!
Steph

I'm with Steph, I'm pretty sure anytime they cut your abs open it hurts! Hopefully you'll feel better soon! (But make sure to milk it!)

I love Amy!! I wish I could play with her every single day. Wish I could help you out a bit too. Instead I just made you laugh causing your bel-wee button to hurt even more. :)

Sorry you are so sore. After my c-section, I thought I'd never be able to laugh or cough or move with out pain. Of course I healed and I do all those things just fine. You better take it easy. So glad your Mom is there to help out. How wonderful.
