Big Brother

Eric holding a newborn Amy

When I was pregnant with Eric, I was thrilled to find that I was having a boy. Why? Because all the rest of my kids would have a big brother. I have a big brother. I adored him as a child (sheesh, I still think he's awesome).

Big brothers pave the way. They protect you. They also coerce and torment you.

Bri, remember the time you convinced Daniel to give his one "paper money" (a ten dollar bill) to you in exchange for your two "paper moneys" (two dollars)? Yep that falls under coercion.

Eric is taking his role seriously, the coercing part. Yesterday driving home from school I heard Eric urging Amy, "go ahead do it, do it." Then he started laughing, hysterically. He successfully convinced Amy to eat her own boogers.

YUCK!!

I always wanted a big brother. NO FAIR. I am glad I didn't have to eat my own boogers though. I believe that is what I would do to the four after me.

That's what big brothers are for! I had to eat a grasshopper between two vanilla wafers. I still remember the taste.

I had four older brothers! Imagine the torture I endured!
The booger thing is hilarious. I am trying to coerce my kid NOT to eat his!

My brothers were more for the torment than the coercion. Although there was the time they convinced Kirsta that apple cider vinegar tasted just like apple cider and she drank a glass of it. Yummy.

Such a stinker! My brothers were always picking on me, but I learned how to really get them in trouble! So tell Eric to watch out, I might teach Amy a thing or two :)

But one day he'll send a secret spy to check up on her while she's in college...and she'll love that he's looking out for her. Love you, Bri!

Hang in there, Amy. Middle children are the survivors! I was told by my older siblings that eating my boogers would make me smarter. Maybe I didn't eat enough.

That was a really nice post, Laura. I think you're the awesomest too! I will say, however, that I think this story grows each time it is retold. I remember trading Dan 2 pennies for his quarter. Is that right? Dan, you'll have to weigh in.

I always wanted a big brother, never had one. Wanted a boy first so my girls would have a big brother. Got my wish. Kevin is a GREAT big brother to Shaylee and Ashlee. Most of the time. . .
