We were supposed to head to Lubbock Thursday night, but my van was still in the shop after four days...another story altogether! By the time we got it back the idea of packing and loading up to get to Lubbock at 10pm and then have kids screaming and running until midnight just didn't sound appealing. Instead we opted for a very early departure...6:30am Friday morning.
We drove straight to the parade and 4th on Broadway. It was fun to hang out with Mark and Catherine during the parade. Hannah has the best view from her dad's shoulders. I would have a view that good too if I climbed a 6ft ladder!

Tara especially loves to be with Hannah. She is always giving her hugs and mothering her to death! They are staring at the foam stars being blown into the sky.

The kids had a blast yelling and trying to get candy. We were at the very end of the parade route and so most of the candy was gone...darn :)

Amy loved sitting in my chair and pointing to all her boo-boos.

The horses finally caught her attention!

We didn't stay too long at the street fair because the kids just wanted to go get donuts. I don't blame them. I would rather get a couple dozen Krispy Kreme donuts than a street vendor's funnel cake too. But we were there long enough to get balloons!

The funniest part of the parade involved Ian, naturally. It seemed like every fourth or fifth person in the parade would look at Ian and say something like, "what happened to your eye buddy?" At first Ian answered, but then it was to much work so he just waved.
This was the best picture of the eye I could get. It seriously looked like someone played a practical joke on him. Here look into this telescope, and get a black ring around your entire eye!

Then we headed over to Aunt Jeanette's new home for a BBQ and lots of vegging out. I only got one picture there because I forgot my camera charger and of course the battery went dead!
How many kids can you fit in a dog house?

We were lucky enough to be able to leave Amy and Ian asleep at the grandparents house while Jared and I and the 2 big kids went to watch fireworks. Jared and I both commented on how easy it was to get chairs, blankets, and people to the desired location when we weren't pushing a stroller or keeping little ones from their greatest desire...running in the streets! Wow, no wonder so many people stop at 2 kids. It was fun to spend some quality time with Eric and Tara. Tara decided before we got to the fireworks she was afraid of them. After almost the entire show was over she finally decided they weren't scary after all and really very pretty. Unfortunately, at that point most of the fireworks were over!
It was a great day

That eye looks very very painful. Ellie hit me in the eye with her head yesterday and it is still very sensitive to the touch. I feel so bad for Ian. He is a trooper. I love the 4th. Looks like your day is as busy as ours. Great times!
Glad you guys had a fun trip! The kids all look so patriotic in their red, white, and blue. And I probably would have stopped to look at Ian's eye too...it still looks terrible! Poor kid.
