Getta Job

So yesterday I was telling Tara something that she didn't like and she responded. "You are so mean I wish I didn't have parents!"

We have all wished we didn't have parents at some point, so I totally understood this outburst without feeling offended in anyway. I responded with, "I bet you feel like that until dinner time when you want someone to cook for you."

"No," Tara said, "I would just go to the grocery store and buy something that you don't have to cook." Well since we are going to play that game, I had to prod further. "Oh really and how are you going to pay for your food you don't have to cook?" I said to egg her on. "With the money from my piggy bank." replied the all knowing Tara. "What will you do when that money runs out?"

There was silence for a moment as she considered this possibility. I thought for sure I had won this argument!!! However, Tara was quicker than I give her credit for, "I would just get a job." Oh really, I wonder what type of employment my 6 yr old is capable of. "I will be a teacher." I almost laughed then, but held it in long enough to find out who she is going to teach. "Kindergartners. They are the easiest!"

I lost it then and all the laughter seeped right out! I don't think you could pay me enough to try and teach 25 children who are 5 years old to sit still and listen! I would rather try and herd cats! It would be like throwing a birthday party every day!

I'm with you, I don't think you could pay me enough to teach kindergarden. On the other hand, I would pay good money to see Tara try to get 25 5 year olds to sit still and listen! I bet that would be quite a show.

I love it when my kids try to think their way out of things. It shows just how much they know. They really are smart little stinkers. Tara reminds me of someone...hmm...could it be YOU!

I taught kindergarten for awhile and I know you couldn't pay me enough to do it again!

Laura, the Maddocks were in our ward in Lubbock. She and I did some girls nights out together. And yes, Nate is Scott's clone.
