That is Eric down there...look at that BEAUTIFUL sky!

At one point an airplane flew by fairly low because it was getting ready to land, and Tara was afraid it would hit her kite because they were so high! Eric and Tara began discussing how ALL the passengers of the plane were probably admiring their kites. "I bet they like mine better than yours." etc! It was all fun and games until Tara let go of her kite in her attempt to reel it in. YIKES...fly away kite!

I'm sure we gave the other people at the park quite a show in our attempts to get the kite. First Jared yells at Tara to catch it. She is running after it and getting farther and farther away which essentially means more and more crying. I yell to Jared that she isn't going to catch it, so he puts the kite he was wrapping up down and runs after both Tara and the kite. I'm holding Amy and the other flying kite and start walking toward Jared, Tara, and the kite which is now stuck in a tree. I'm telling Jared it is stuck in the tree and he keeps asking me which tree. We finally figure out how to communicate with each other and he goes scrambling up the tree. However, this is a little pecan tree and can't hold his weight as high as he needs to go. He yells at me to get a stick so he can reach the string. I give my flying kite to Tara and run for the packaged kite because I can't find any sticks. I'm gone about 20 seconds. When I come back Tara has flown the 2nd kite into a tree and Jared is near swearing! (He actually never swears, but I swear you could see fumes coming out of his ears!) Anyway, he manages to get Tara's kite down out of the tree losing very little string.
Now it is time to get the second kite. It is stuck in the tree nearest the street, and of course the direction that I need to run with the kite to get it out of the tree is toward the street. Jared gets the kite untangled enough for me to run across the street and get the kite flying again. He gives me the go, but I decided not to run because there was a car coming and gosh, you know, I kinda like my life. However, Jared didn't notice the car and was immensely frustrated that I didn't run on command. On try number two we managed to get the kite out of the tree and no one got run over by oncoming traffic!
We really did have a good time despite the tree fiasco. I wish I had a picture of Jared in the tree. It was really a funny sight, but I don't think he would have appreciated the photo opportunity quite like I would!
